Blessings with Lily

Susanna Lily-Ann Faye is our 5th child and youngest daughter.  She came to us with the name Lily-Ann.  Here's how cool God works things out and shows us His Will sometimes.  Years ago, we had chosen the name Susanna Faye should God bless us with another daughter.  Susanna is the name of Andy's Great-Grandma and also of his sister who entered Glory shortly after birth.  Faye is the middle name of both Kathy's momma and her grandmother.

We were praying about whether or not Lily would join our family through adoption.  In that period of praying and deciding, we were discussing her name.  Out of curiosity, we looked up the meaning of the name Susanna.  

The name is of Hebrew origin and means "Lily".  We knew for sure she was our Lily and we gave her our favored, family name.  We also wanted to do that to strengthen and reinforce the deep bond we have with Lily as part of our family, even though she came to us through the blessing of adoption instead of birth.

Lily has several special challenges in her life.  We have learned to rejoice in small things every day.  In fact, that is one of the biggest lessons God has taught us through Lily is to enjoy those small blessings.

Today, Lily was at the doctor from 9:30 until 3:30-quite a lot for a little girl.  Rachel was entertaining her with the camera on my phone.  Lily surprised us by blowing kisses at herself into the camera.  We were very excited!
