We moved our 3 bonus kiddos into their new home at the end of the year. This was heart-wrenching for us, but we believed it was best for everyone. The children are now settling in with their new family. Please continue to pray for them and their new parents and sister as they all adjust.
January allowed us to relax, but at the same time we were able to catch up on a few projects we'd neglected due to the busyness of our home. Rachel and I made a quilt for Memaw and we sewed many skirt and dresses projects. We cleaned out bedrooms and hauled a truckload of donations away. We have been able to attend 2 much-needed marriage/family retreats since the first of the year. The children had a wonderful time and it allowed Andy and I a time to refocus on our family life and family goals.
In January, we learned that Andy will NOT be deploying this year after all. This was such an amazing blessing for our family. He will instead become the Rear Detachment commander for his unit. This is a challenging job, but it will be worth it for him to be home.
In February, Rachel and Connor were able to serve as a page in the Kansas House of Representatives. It was a great experience for them and they both hope to be able to do it again. February also brought a new class for the children in our local Co-op. I am teaching sign language to middle and high school students. It has been a great experience so far and Rachel and Connor are improving their sign language skills.
A few weeks ago we were blessed with another Foster care placement. It came as a surprise to us, but we are now caretakers for 3 energetic little boys. They are 7, 5 and 19 months. We're all adjusting to having new people in our family, but truthfully, everyone is doing great. The boys have settled in very well. They are well-behaved and eager to learn the ways of our family. Please pray for them as they have weekly visits with their family and go through all the newness of this experience. Please pray for their family that things will get done as they need to be in order to restore their family. Ultimately, please pray for salvation for those family members. They have many 'steps' to do in order for children to return home, but salvation is the most important thing that would truly heal their family.
So, I will be posting about some of these adventures and a few more. I may even break my unspoken rule and post things out of chronological order to try to get things updated. We hope everyone is having a very blessed start their this new year!
I leave you with our Bible verse for this week.
"Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."
Proverbs 27:17

Trying to be back :) I've missed posting things and hate that some of those things won't be recorded very well. Hopefully I will keep up with it better in the upcoming year.
