The weddings were a week apart so we decided to make a vacation of it and do some fun things in between them. We were gone a long time and took hundreds of pictures so there's no way to fill it all up into one post. So, I'm going to break it up into a few posts to share all the great experiences (and great fun) we had on the trip.
Our trip began with us driving out to South Carolina for Cousin Sarah's wedding. For Rachel's birthday, Great Grandma Marge gave Rachel a plane ticket to be able to fly with her out to the wedding. So, the first leg of the trip was to take Rachel to Oklahoma. From there, we headed west and drove all night and most of the next day. We decided to go the southern route that took us across Arkansas, the southwestern tip of Tennessee, through Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and then SC.
While driving through Birmingham, AL we witnessed tornado damage left from the tornadoes that happened in the south the end of April. It was heartbreaking to see the destruction in the area. We sat in the parking lot of this destroyed gas station and prayed for all those affected.
We then continued on our journey to get to South Carolina. We arrived at our hotel and went to bed early that night to recover from the overnight trip in the van. And, besides, we had to get to bed early because the other cousins were arriving at the hotel early the next morning! They had left Oklahoma the next afternoon.
The kids arrived and set off playing games together right away.
The next day was Sarah's beautiful wedding. But, that will be for another blog post. We weren't able to take many pictures there, but others did and I'm going to try to get a few of those pictures because they were pretty cute. But, for now, this is as far as I got!
"And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up."
Deuteronomy 6:7
