What was that?

This year we have decided to try out Sonlight Curriculum.  It has been a challenging transition so far, but I really think that's because of the switch and because of all we have going on in our home right now with having the foster children here.

So, today Nathan, Grace and I were working on Science. They are learning about blood and how it works and the different functions of the red and white blood cells.  We read passages in the Usborne Book of Knowledge and then answer questions in our worksheets (produced by Sonlight).

Question #2 says: What are the three main jobs of the blood cells?  Then, it gave simple diagrams of the blood cells and illustrated what their job might be.  I have to admit that they are not very clear drawings and the cells looked a little like potatoes, but we got the idea :)

For #1, the kids agreed that the cells were bringing food to the body.

For #2, they saw the air tank, and both agreed that the cell was carrying oxygen to the body.

Then, we came to #3 and Grace blurted out instantly (and very confidently, I might add)........

"They are burning duckies!!"

Shocked, I looked down at the picture and then laughed so hard I cried.  Then, looked at the picture again, back to Grace and laughed even harder.  I hope you got a chuckle out of it too :)

(Oh, and they are NOT burning duckies.  Do you know what the answer would be?)

"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a brokenspirit drieth the bones."
Proverbs 17:22

Oh, and I don't really know - maybe cleaning cells or repairing them?

Haha, it still cracks me up. The correct answer was that they "Fight Infection" (or germs) I guess those are the "bad bugs" :)
